Local Burn Policy

Local Burn Policy:

Posted below is our outdoor burn policy here in Pinewood Springs. As you know, mountain living always presents a greater possibility of wild fires. Please familiarize yourself with our policy below in order to help do your part on keeping our community safe and free from human caused fires.

PINEWOOD SPRINGS FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT OPEN BURN POLICY

The PSFPD policy on outdoor fires is based on the principle that we will not tolerate open flames within the district, except under permit. Any outdoor burning that is allowed without a permit will be allowed only if enclosed by non-combustible materials designed to prevent the spread of flame, sparks, and embers.

Our “No Open Flame” policy is more restrictive than either Boulder County or Larimer County and applies to all properties within the Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District.

All outdoor flames within the fire district must be completely enclosed to prevent the escape of embers. Any combination of non-combustible walls, lids, or screens which fully enclose the fire are acceptable. All screens must be made of materials which have open spaces no larger than ¼ inch.
